I'm a self proclaimed psued. I unironically believe the most interesting, a/effective , provoking ideas emerge from pseudom as opposed to rigorous academic philosophy which replicates structural trends (sometimes ...I feel like I'll walk back on this hard lol)

I certainly agree with that, but it also does seem to me that university philosophy (the field I know best) is on average better than philosophy produced by folk outside. Not, mind you, cos university philosophy is all that good.

This does raise the question of what counts as “good” philosophy and why. Of course any good philosopher thinks hard about that. However, the institutional incentives of academic philosophy do not seem conducive to what I’d count as “good” work.

OTOH, if what is done outside academia even counts as philosophy—a question that might be debated—it is likely to reinvent octagonal wheels through ignorance, accept bad reasoning for lack of sharp interlocutors, and think too briefly for lack of available time.
