don't worry, "philosophical stuff" is something totally different than philosophy

I'm a self proclaimed psued. I unironically believe the most interesting, a/effective , provoking ideas emerge from pseudom as opposed to rigorous academic philosophy which replicates structural trends (sometimes ...I feel like I'll walk back on this hard lol)

pseuds can outpace rigorous academics by a huge factor because they don’t have the overhead of keeping every single one of their thoughts tagged with its citations

No one can take seriously at this point the idea that being a university employee makes your ideas more valid or interesting.

I certainly agree with that, but it also does seem to me that university philosophy (the field I know best) is on average better than philosophy produced by folk outside. Not, mind you, cos university philosophy is all that good.

In my limited experience I've found: —Amateur mathematicians are doing amazing things, probably while
#gaming —Philosophical amateurs are no less intelligent than academics but are remarkably poorly read —Almost no one without a PhD knows what "computer science" means

my hope is that one day i will do enough coding to forget ever having thought i knew what “computer science” means

I've done a tiny amount but I think I already reached that point a long time ago. Or maybe I never did. idk. The act of definition is all too often a recursive metaphor, moreso the closer you can bridge it to existential thought. Always wondering if I know what I'm saying...

you’re right though, that’s why the second great skill after cache invalidation is naming things

I feel it worthwhile to go beyond that atm. Is one saying they are 'self-deprecatingly insecurely boasting' by nature of admitting a 'cursory knowledge of coding', ie., "I'm smart enough to be that much of a Renaissance person, but of an aptitude not worth testing."? Who knows.

Also implies humility. Really a great strategy tbh. I try to ensure I don't accidentally employ it.
