I'm reminded of how the characters in Annihilation describe the many-leveled structure sunk into the earth as a "tower" or a tunnel. I guess we don't really have a word for that concept in english. I've never been sure whether it is weirder that there is a word meaning "killing one in ten" or "one who sits atop a pillar for extended periods out of religious fervor". Words are, like, ultraspecific sometimes.
