why? because of the argument or because his preferred method of execution is laughably unrealistic? if that latter I agree but interested if someone's got a critique of the argument

The argument is self-refuting because anyone who falls for it fails to persist their lineage. In an atheist universe the only true morality is that which continues to exist. The logic is fine, the underlying assumptions are moronic.https://twitter.com/0x49fa98/status/1148681898043965440 …

hmm, see that more as a problem of practical enactment. for example, if he were to get ahold of some T1000s and exterminate the human race he would probably be right to do so. but of course that doesn't contradict what you said about the only morality = that which keeps existing

He wouldn’t be right by definition because his premises are faulty

don't understand what you mean, sorry. also if he succeeds, or if someone convinced by him succeeds, isn't he right by the only morality in an atheist universe?

the other thing is that any true morality by these criteria is temporary because the Second Law isn't going to be repealed. so i mean if this is what people want to do, whatever

i'm just mad because i think the important thing is what we do in the meantime and convincing people not to reproduce with marshmallow utilitarianism is just a fucking ludicrously boring unaesthetic thing to spend resources on

The idea that the position is built on logic or morality is ludicrous. The fact is that having children is less hedonistic than living in an urban playground doing drugs & drinking & having barren relationships, so people who like benatar are just back-justifying their hedonism

how cowardly. it's an insult to nihilistic hedonism to act as though it needs justification with such cringing measures

Nevertheless I am certain it is the case. No one who is advocating anti-natalism actually *wants* to have children. The logic comes after the desire

just tell your whiny fucking parents that they're not getting grandbabies, people, you don't need to be saving the fucking world to get permission to make choices
