if you find someone meeting the criteria in the 10x engineers thread that's getting ratioed, what you have found is someone with severe undiagnosed adult ADHD who has learned to use software development as a coping pattern for it

As someone who A. meets the criteria in the 10x engineer thread and B. probably has severe undiagnosed ADHD, I find this thread quite accurate and possibly even a little helpful.

Especially about not getting the code you want. One of the hardest parts of my job is resisting the temptation to build extensive, well engineered projects that are only vaguely tangential to what I'm being paid for.

then on the flip side you have a diagnosed adhd sufferer who doesn't know (and wasnt taught) how to be productive and can barely cope with regular activities so they need to claw up feeling like nothing works this thread made me depressed lmao

Now that I've read the whole thread, I wonder what my life would be like as a developer. I've done desktop computers my whole life and I've only really been happy when I can spot patterns and fix them. I do want to learn to code though, maybe it can tame the ADD beast
