the whole "having primary and secondary partners is bad" thing would be a definite point of attack, all multiphilic relationships would have formally defined hierarchy where everybody knows where they stand, with tertiary partners, quaternary partners, whatever it takes

reinventing the wheel is the best way to understand how wheels work; reinventing the harem is the best way to understand how harems work

Defined hierarchy sucks, though. I'm dating six people and they each get what they get. I can't be fucking around with keeping track of what a level 3 multiclass boyfriend gets for experience points each week.

hmm, yeah, good point, hierarchy does have its way of generating bureaucratic overhead. what if you had a piece of software that told you what a level 3 multiclass boyfriend gets for experience points this week?

Then I'd probably get mad about the software advising me to spend 2 sleeps and 5 units of TV with a given boyfriend when I want to binge Veronica Mars by myself.

let's assume that rather than considering your entire life a resource allocation to be divided up between your partners it's dividing up as much time and attention as you tell it to
