from what i've seen it's usually a side effect of lazy loading, not a feature in its own right. not that that, um, helps. chrome can also open the native find box if you first focus the address bar.

i can't find the site i was on now, which doesn't displease me, but it was something in the gradle ecosystem i think. cmd-F was intercepted and opened a sidebar in the web page that did an internal site search and of course there's fucking Confluence in edit mode

I’m working with Google Apps Script right now, via the in-browser editor they basically force you to use, and the text search box that they’ve overridden ^-f with IS CENTERED OVER THE FOUND TEXT AND CAN’T BE MOVED OUT OF THE WAY.

wow that is some next level shit fwiw in chrome on mac i was able to get the real Find by going through the Edit menu instead of using cmd-F
