been thinking about a thing @browserdotsys told me he ran into about divination being a metastrategy for inducing people to use more ergodic life strategies and it's just incredibly fruitful so i guess it's time to bust out the ol' tarot and maybe get some chickens

I thought: Oh, ergodic? I get to learn a new word. Hmm, I don't understand this definition. Okay, I think I understand this example. I have no idea how these things relate. What does divination have to do with ensemble and time averages?

what i mean by it is making people explore more of the systemic phase space available to them, like if you cast a hexagram to determine which route to take home every day you'll encounter much more systemic space than otherwise when you almost certainly would've gone the same way

works even better if you derive coordinates as randomly as is possible from a telegram bot that rents cycles on a quantum computerhttps://theascent.pub/if-reality-is-a-computer-simulation-what-happens-if-i-hack-it-8bfbf519716 …

for it to work best though the divination procedure needs to be expensive so that you're more likely to stay committed to a result instead of being able to easily just keep going until you get what you would've done anyway. so haruspicy > tarot > die-rolling
