reminds me of the interviews I've had where we discussed my TDD habits for 15-20 minutes and then I was asked to write code on a whiteboard "...can I use an IDE? we all have laptops?" blew everyone's mind (the answer was no, of course)

I find that walking into interviews with the idea that *they* have to win *me* over and I'm the one doing the interviewing is remarkably freeing. Drop this one sometime and see how it goes.

If we failed to learn that lesson from Ferris Bueller I am not sure we can. I've used that method a number of times and it basically just works.

it was kind of my entire social strategy in my late teens and twenties, and disgustingly successful i hope the reason i mostly stopped using it is that i like myself better not using it, not some kind of idiotic authenticity fetish
