one thing i made for #cavesofqud is liquid-fueled energy cells, as a weirder, jankier-feeling alternative to regular energy cells. the basic models are lead-acid cells, which turn acid into electricity, and combustion cells, which turn oil into electricity

the first exotic one is the thermoelectric cell, which runs on lava, which is just kind of inherently fun. i just found my first non-testing instance in the wild of the last one, the biodynamic cell, which gets more electricity than all the rest, out of blood

this was intended to come across as Extremely Creepy Ultratech From a Dead Civilization That You Maybe Wouldn't Want To Meet in a Dark Alley, and having run into it in context now, i don't think it's saying too much to assert that it works

V1: Place blood in battery for more power V2: Battery, upon depletion, rapidly obtains more fuel material from the user. User Warning: Maintain healthy blood sugar to avoid passing out. V3: Battery slowly siphons blood during use. User Warning: may impair natural healing.

Is the fact that it uses blood a player discovery or does it straight-up tell you?

once you identify it from "weird artifact" state it's in the description, and more often than not it'll have some blood in it when you find it anyway, so that'd be a tell
