cyberpunk writers often correctly noted that the future would involve a lot of people just straight up self-mutilating for an audience to try to get famous, but they tended to overidentify this as occurring in stand-up clubs and underidentify it occurring in politics
almost as if it's secretly a New Wave collection strong disagree about Mozart in Mirrorshades though. it's not "about" time travel; the "time travel" involved is parallel timeline travel, and it's *about* the impact of colonialism on a society by an ultratech version of itself

I mean... no. It isn't. It might be cyberpunk adjacent, but no modern reader expects a cyberpunk story to usually contain multiversal travel.
