*I* can tell the difference between a cognitive and non-cognitive process, and I’m not sure what I am if not a big mess of physics. Rather, I can’t see non-circular grounds for you to argue that I’m not.

Qualia have the wrong epistemic and ontological properties to be physics. Namely, they -do- go away when you stop believing in it.

You're denying the obvious at this point. If you stop believing the Earth is flat, then the belief the Earth is flat no longer exists. And vice versa. If you stop imaging a cube and start imagining orange, then the cube ceases to exist.

sure, and the fact that i'm experiencing things depends on neither my believing i am doing so nor me imagining myself to do so

If experience isn’t occurring while asleep, who’s doing the sleeping? Not “me” - I’m necessarily conscious.

experience is happening, you just don't remember it very well, and some of us learned object permanence but didn't generalize

this is one of the ways you can tell that your memory is sited in your cognition, not your consciousness, incidentally, if that needed demonstration
