sad! well i guess the only way to earn your approval is to buy into the idea that the people talking about how symbols are "one of the most important parts of movements" and have "incredible power" are the ones really not getting overwrought about symbols around here

Gosh, I guess if someone responds to your argument saying that symbols don't matter by saying they do (which is entirely reasonable given that the right has put nontrivial effort into establishing it) that must mean they're completely irrational.

Weird how people who disagree with you only do it for irrational reasons, this is definitely not a psychological defense mechanism you're using to avoid introspection.

This is what I literally believe. You're the one-meta-level-higher version of someone who's memorized a list of fallacies and applies them, badly, as thought terminating cliches.

Concrete example: deciding that if something could derive from ingroup outgroup dynamics then that's the only possible explanation.

i remember a lot of implicating ingroup outgroup dynamics in things, i don't remember a lot of excluding all other factors. is it possible when i perform said implication you take it personally for shoe fitting reasons?

Nah, I might be confusing you for others who do this. The specific issue is using claims like this as an excuse not to have to think about why someone might legitimately think two groups are meaningfully different because thinking about abstractions is easier than objects.

Oh, and don't think I don't notice you're responding to this instead of substantiating your claim that that will dude faced unfair ostracization in some meaningful sense.
