strategy games where you have to do a miserable slog of building up a resource that takes way too fucking long so you can start getting another resource that takes way too long and you need like twenty of these before anything starts happening are such great preparation for life

i was actually thinking of a subgame in Forge of Empires where a typical move choice is whether to do a 4 hour, 8 hour, or 24 hour production and your rewards for solution are max if you finish in under 15 days and least if you take like 21
