I mean, context is king. The Star of David could absolutely be a racist provocation in Gaza or the West Bank. And, in DC, that red hat is a racist provocation, as is the tomahawk chop. If the kids were too sheltered to know this, they were in for a rude awakening sooner or later.

why is it you think they wore the racism hat?

In-group solidarity? They like Trump for some reason. They probably don’t believe Trump is racist. They probably don’t identify as racist. But if your definition of racism is too narrow to include Trump, that suggests a high level of comfort w/ racism as it’s commonly understood.

they wore the racism hat to own the libs and reify their white catholic male in group identity. to tell people their winners and the folks who disagree with them are losers. to show dominance and tell people they disagree with that they don't belong.

many of the same reasons the proud boys wear it.

and really, how very dare they wear a symbol of their ingroup while literally attending a march for their ingroup's political values when we know they're really outgroup and should be ashamed of that symbol, amirite?

people should be ashamed to wear symbols of hate, yes. Relativism doesn't make it okay to wear a swastika. I'm sorry.

yeah, leaving literally no room for people to be politically disaligned with you without being monsters who must be destroyed is something to be sorry for

I have intense disagreements with many people who don't wear symbols of hate. Have you missed the part where the one political party has turned itself into a haven of fascism and xenophobia? What do you think that means?

It's not my fault that the political opposition has embraced hatred. It's not my fault that Trump rallies neo Nazis to his side, and has made hatred of immigrants the signature issues of the Republican party.

yeah it's heartwarming the way the last week has shown it's only those vile outgroup red tribers who embrace hatred

Man, american politics are so thoroughly fucked. From the outside looking in, it honestly seems like neither side even sees the OTHERS as human anymore. The political divide has widened to sociopathic levels. Disturbing to watch people slavering for each others' blood.

this both sides bullshit is going to get us all killed. Trump ran on a platform of hatred and division, and that's how he's governed. He literally does not see black people or immigrants as human.
