That's not something me and "my friends" decided. It's what Trump decided with every bit of his rhetoric; it's what people decided when they use his name to intimidate marginalized people; it's what Nazis decide when they wear the hat.

ahh gotcha. cool cool. you're refusing any association with the Star of David due to its routine display by people shooting kids throwing rocks, of course

I mean, context is king. The Star of David could absolutely be a racist provocation in Gaza or the West Bank. And, in DC, that red hat is a racist provocation, as is the tomahawk chop. If the kids were too sheltered to know this, they were in for a rude awakening sooner or later.

In-group solidarity? They like Trump for some reason. They probably don’t believe Trump is racist. They probably don’t identify as racist. But if your definition of racism is too narrow to include Trump, that suggests a high level of comfort w/ racism as it’s commonly understood.

I don't think the kids should get death threats; I don't take any pleasure in them suffering. They've affiliated w a symbol that is designed to associate them with a racist fascist and his program of hate and division. It is used in hate crimes. It is used by white nationalists.

It is understood by those who see it as a symbol of hate; it's used by people who wear it to spread hate and to terrorize.

and you've chosen to prioritize empathy with people wearing those symbols. That's not surprising; empathy often is reserved for the powerful.

It's depressing though. I thought you were better than this.
