proposition 1: i avoid letting myself get hungry because i become incredibly hair-trigger irritable proposition 2: i am incredibly angry all the time and self-medicate that with the feeling of satiety is there a difference between these propositions besides basis perspective

yes. satiety from hunger and craving for food pleasure are distinct sensations and you can learn to distinguish them. it's satiety from hunger if you 1) have not eaten a large meal in 12+ hours 2) experience mood improvement beginning about 20 minutes after eating

This is a very useful distinction. For the latter, I would add that eating may not even be required; sometimes just having the food available has a calming effect, from knowing that a craving could be satisfied at leisure.
