Stay angry, yes, but why do people think hope and anger are mutually exclusive? Hope is the desire and possible expectation of a good outcome. If you have anger but no hope then you’re kind of useless, because you don’t think we can win and you’ll embrace futility. https://twitter.com/heyshanmurphy/status/1079786798975516673 …
tbh i think there are multiple specific emotional processes/postures that people call "hope" and the most lionized one (because of its centrality to organized religion) is a plaintive passivity that begs for a positive outcome using how much a negative outcome would hurt

Yeah, but we have a word for that, “Thoughts and prayers”.

there is a lot of uphill ground to cover before that usage would begin to displace calling it "hope"

this being what gets people mad at the concept of hope, possibly unfairly tarring a considered expectation of the possibility of positive outcome from one's diligent actions, which fits in the same word boxes but i dunno if is really even right to call "hope"

It all sounds like a lot of edgelord bullshit to me. “Oh, you’re so childish and naive that you think things could ever get better? Wow you’re stupid and ignorant, unlike me, the worldly sage who is an embittered nihilist who also does nothing because I assume nothing will work.”
