When a right-leaning subculture turns on itself and starts tearing itself apart, it looks like a hobbesian fight club. When a left-leaning one does it, it looks like everybody trying to run an inquisition on everybody else.

the fundamental difference is where people find authority, and the left/right positions stem from their views on authority So the political quadrant effectively collapses into a single axis
