Aristotelian elements, layers (earth under water under air under fire), things tending to their natural place... I think you'd say that things that go down (even in water) have a predominance of earth.

I think to irritate physicists it might be good to conceive of the four elements as purely qualitative and claim to still follow this system. Then you say that until a mind actually stands on the heavenly bodies and experiences their gravity, it's purely abstraction.

another good way to irritate physicists is to say that the four elements were obviously just a schematization of the first four phases of matter in other terms
