To what extent is nothing artificial whatsoever?

A lot of it has been at least artificialy extended since the invention of techniques for storing knowledge. And that has been going on since stone age and isn't showing signs of slowing down.

This might actually predate Homo Sapiens, but I can't remember offhand if there have been found examples of pre-human art or artifacts that could indicate some kind of knowledge storage function.

but then, on examining the problem more closely, i begin to encounter questions of classification- do we only apply the label of AI to heuristic exocognition or all types of exocognition? e.g. does a magic 8 ball count as AI on that account? is that even a true heuristic process?
