Whatever happened to the biohacking meme? Was it just a couple nerds with petri dishes or did they actually reach "you wouldn't download a drug" levels?

afaict
@kickstarter murdered it at the behest of cringing bioconservative whiners and the rare case that outraced the axe failed in ignominy because it turns out shit is hard - 1 more reply

Yeah, there seems to be a definition problem here. In the context of marxism, 'capitalism' is defined as any system in which a non-laboring class controls the distribution of the products of labor.

We have literal bacteria that we can grow in vats to make insulin. If it’s expensive it is not a market-side failure,
-
The cost of insulin production is in purifying it so that the byproducts of growing it don’t kill you. Unregulated insulin markets will kill people for this exact reason.

isn't that just capitalism becoming purer by corrupting the market
-
I'm not convinced "pure" and "corrupted" are at all valid terms in this context. It is capitalism following it's normal progression, or, at any rate, continuing the trend identified as far back as 1916, and arguably earlier (Capital Vol III on the circulation of capital)
