Wikipedia process is loathsome but grievance farming about deletions of articles that didn't come close to meeting mind-bogglingly well-documented inclusion standards but were about Persons of Protected Identity so we don't need to understand those standards is also loathsome

Generally agree, but notice the specific inclusion requirements are disproportionately used to kill articles about less prominent groups. A video game character article gets a talk page message questioning notability, but the Nobel woman was just deleted for not being perfect.

talk page messages questioning notability aren't unusual but one form or another of proposal for deletion as opening overture is extremely normal in all topic areas. what i've seen so far is that "not perfect" was 1) a copy and paste of a web page then 2) a citation-free article

I'm going to guess it involves weak-AI-level monitoring and and round the clock shifts of people to preserve the accuracy of the article.
