sure, if you're a strong social constructivist, naturally you'll be all up in some media censorship i guess the trick is just never processing that your position is literally "if we just pretend bad things don't happen they'll stop happening because nobody will learn to do them"

I’m not sure what’s true one way or the other. But the inverse of this is “if we promote this idea it will happen more” which seems to work. So why wouldn’t not-promoting have the opposite effect?

yeah, handy example. it appears to be hella more complex than a linear relationship between promotion and adoption, innit? especially with where when you get too enthused about discouraging promotion you're now attempting suppression which acts just like a form of promotion
