it was incredibly effective. it got us a same-day sale when someone came in looking for the book, it usually didn't impact the pull list people since the reorders were like 75% likely to come in before they showed up, and it disciplined deadbeat pull list customers.

the conflict case, where a deadbeat came in before the restock arrived, could go two ways: they got angry and cancelled (we wanted this) or they got apologetic and paid up and promised to come in more regularly (we wanted this even more)

i wish it was as simple as the fingers typing out the phonetic spelling but i have no explanation for why they seem to enjoy randomly substitution homophones as soon as I go over 70 wpm
