on the one hand, factory farming is tough to stomach for sure on the other hand, the principle of reduction of suffering, consistently applied, results in unironic screeds about how we need to stop the endless mass scale atrocities that wild animals are inflicting on each other

and now we're at the goddamn trolley problem, unable to justify how causing harm by action is actually any different from failing to prevent it by inaction, but most likely indulging the fact that it *feels* worse

i absolutely support acting on subjective sympathies! the difficulty is really just when we get to the point where we're deploying force to compel other people to act as though they had the same sympathies we do and made decisions the same1 reply 1 retweet 0 likes
