I don't see an issue with it, it's a funny way to explain privilege

it's wrong on every level. living as an emotional/gender-nonconforming male comes with it extreme social difficulties. in no way are men's emotions "catered to"

The point is they don't have to, because of that privilege. They have assumptions and expectations on how the world is supposed to be and when that is challenged, they get whiney. Men's emotions get catered to everywhere, for example the wage gap.

"they don't have to?" yeah they can get the privilege of patriarchy if they just deny who they are, shut down their emotions, and live as a shallow husk. that's an asinine concept of privilege

including the wage gap under "catering to emotions" is similarly asinine. the phenomenon i'm describing is not having your emotions taken seriously ever because you're supposed to 'man up and deal with it'.

there are obvious privileges that men have in society because of enduring patriarchal norms. i accept that. in no way do men have privilege in having their emotional needs considered however

The tweet you screenshot solely is about those who align with this existing system. Yes, patriarchy also hurts men - especially on an emotional level. School shootings are an extreme example of this, as those people are those exact victims who were not able to suppress those

men aligning with this existing system requires emotional repression, though. i just don't see how they're having their emotions catered to given that condition. + she explicitly said "men aren't actually told they can't be emotional", which just seems flat out wrong

we will cater to your emotions as long as you have only the Correct Emotions you may have Privilege as long as you Conform hmmmmmm

this is a beyond-basic-bitch tier meme-cartoon but the dynamic it describes is legitimately extant, the whole feminist/feminist-adjacent discourse around masculinity/emotions is 99% horse shit i m opic.twitter.com/pNl558S4N2

Thing i've noticed in modern feminism: telling men that they should express their feelings more, and then when men actually express feelings, call them "whiny" or make "male tears" joke.

They are male tears when they cry about their maleness not being enough to land them a better job, when they cry about their favourite cartoon having a female lead. You can't say it's all the same. If you think feminism is about making fun of men, you're too centered on men.
