statist UBI is a mistake. we need anarchist UBI: an explicit game theoretic bribe not to interfere with the property of those paying into it, withheld from (surviving) violators (obviously interfering with the property of a non-participant entity isn't a violation)
i'm sure it will be much better when it's a protection racket *down* not a protection racket *up*

"take this money so you won't firebomb your competitors"? wut?
-
i bet if you dig deep enough you'll find this principle in operation in a lot of places if your city has 100,000 people who just went out of work and nobody has work for them, what's more rational, standing on principle that they shouldn't riot or bribing them not to riot?
-
in some countries they just put them on the dole (shitty UBI stand-in). in other countries they start a war and get a bunch of em dead. in other countries they have them grope crotches at the airport.
-
so these are in descending order of social utility is what you're saying at least the people on the dole generate economic opportunity for articles whining about dole bludgers
-
they might even buy some consumer goods with it too! demand side stimulus is the real reason why UBI is not completely rejected by economists.
-
honestly that part sounds amazing, it's really sad how the first objection to developing any mass market consumer product (as opposed to toy for overprivileged idiots) right now is "who's going to buy it, nobody has any money"
-
I really do want this. I'm even willing to settle for statist UBI to get it.
