think I noticed this in '99 when every god-damned outlet in the country was talking about how Clinton was "stepping up" attacks on Yugoslavia for about eight weeks straight
it's astonishing that they don't attempt to deviate from the script at all. they must know that it breaks the kayfabe and either don't care, or possibly are under explicit instructions to use the language given to them by corporate.
It’s mainly rational laziness. Most people can’t be arsed to put in extra effort when nobody really cares, and they have bills to pay, and a sprawling list of overdue deadlines, etc
you're probably right but I choose to believe that they are intentionally more malicious than is necessary because they enjoy getting away with evil
tbh once you're habituated to rational laziness sometimes there's a vicious glee in being lazier than you strictly need to be when you know you'll get away with it
