"human nature is to defect in game theoretic scenarios just because more advantage is available by defection than cooperation? well how do you like this human who's engineered to ALWAYS cooperate!" yeah that's not monstrous at all

Where are you finding this rhetoric?

Ugh, Gillis. Yeah, he's terrible. Was gonna say "I don't know any anarchotranshumanists that argue that" but now I know who/what segment of Twitter you're talking about and yeah their takes are bad, imo those folks are don't get the key diff between trans-H and A-trans-H
-
well don't keep me in suspense, what's the key difference?
-
I was typing it out, lol, on mobilehttps://twitter.com/QuantumTakes/status/1000772930341605377?s=19 …

I agree, once you start tweaking there is nothing left. This is my favourite Fermi paradox explanation. Banks actually alludes to it too, he describes how Minds created without 'human [alien] nature’ sublime immediately because there is no point sticking around…
@apeofpentacles -
Bank? Source please? This sounds like my view on blank slatism

Iain M. Banks, Culture sequence (start with The Player of Games)... iirc the commentary being referenced is from an interview
