Let’s start with Vardos: Del: "Things have changed. Look around you, man. Do you even recognize the Empire anymore?" Hask: “Del, please don’t do this. Just don’t do this.” Hask doesn’t say please to Iden.

And Hask looks right at Del for “Defiance will be the death of you.” Which, ironically enough, it kinda is.

Hask and Iden have always had a rivalry of sorts but Hask and Del? He sees them as comrades in arms. Del isn’t competition. Honestly I think he’s hurt more by Del’s betrayal than Iden’s. Hask sees his and Del’s dynamic differently than Del does. He never knew Del like he thought.

And then... Pillio. No not the nice Luke mission. The one that made me scream at my television a lot. The end one. The one that cemented my hatred for Hask forever.

“You know Iden may have betrayed me but you, Del, you let me down!” This Hask line shook me to my core when I first heard it. And it makes sense because he was always blind to the sort of person that Del really is. Partially blinded by his laser focus on beating Iden.

It’s also worth mentioning that Del’s last words are begging Hask not to go after Iden. They aren’t begging for his life, they’re begging for Hask’s. Because Del has and always will be a better person than any of us are, really.
