    This didn't start with Romney. Conservatives have been extremely snowflakey about ordinary political attacks on Republicans my entire life while at the same time (for instance) shutting down recounts, purging voter rolls, and now extorting foreign governments to attack Democrats.

    This is the same “bet you wish Romney won now” I got from someone the night Trump won *barely* filigreed

    If my NyQuil-tainted prose blurred the point, it’s this: We got President Trump in no small part because so many good and decent candidates (of both parties) were bludgeoned *personally* — not over policy — that voters became numb to criticims far more substantial and legitimate.
