Today I got the first reply to a patch I submitted 11 years ago. This was amusing, though hey I also have some PRs I need to be reviewing...

What's more fundamental: VMs or containers? I think it's containers. VMs are just another userspace workload that you run in a container, as is doing. Surprising anyone would be creating something new that's VM-first today.

Time spent digging through verbose logs + docs of internal CI job to figure out it wanted a test file ending in `.yml` and not `.yaml` - ~27 minutes. Use of my computer science degree in this: none

I just invented the term "Kubernetes native shell script". (Right? Let me be the first!) Google tells me I win

Super interesting talk at this evening cloudnative & kubernetes meetup about the MCO operator and how it allows to manage cluster nodes’ OS directly as Kubernetes’ resources in . Kudos to and from

A particular shout out to who is the main initial creator of the MCO - a lot of thought went into its design, and it shows!

4 represents the realization of the vision & plans that we laid out w/ the team shortly after Red Hat’s acquisition closed almost 15 months ago. But it also represents years of work by both companies innovating in upstream .”

Ok, I'm now doing backups of data using - very cool software. Having things split between "laptop SSD, external/backup drives and public encrypted cloud" seems to work well; I can think of data a bit like code in git repos.

is very interesting...but the "port to openat()" part is just not realistic for a lot of software (I spent a lot of effort to port libostree to openat()). Still need kernel level mount and other namespaces. But still will be cool to see where WASM goes.

The hardest part about containers is re-training myself to silently accept patches which add hardcoded paths in /tmp. Mount namespaces, everything is fine!
