“Firefall” at Horsetail Fall in Yosemite National Park, California, looks like a scene from a fantasy movie. But, it is an ordinary waterfall, which is illuminated by the sunset, that gives it a fiery glow.pic.twitter.com/kP2aFmM6Cg

Saw the real-deal firefall as a kid. Still remember it. And I can see (and agree) why real fire just wasn’t sustainable.

I didn't realize that they were still doing the fire-over-cliff thing until 1968. Must have been quite the sight!

I’ve always had a fondness for Yosemite, as my father taught me how to ski, there, when I was eight. Oh that my knees would allow me the privilege to ski, just once more, during a natural fire fall.

How lovely. I hope you keep that memory forever

I saw it several times as a child & it was fabulous! The glowing embers didn't fall very fast, so it lasted for a few minutes. The highlight of our camping trip!

Yep! The hotel employees had to burn charcoal and wheel it up there and dump it off! Crazy.
