I clearly miscalculated the impact this Tweet would have. I really appreciate your words and what you do and share on Twitter and have for quite some time. My Tweet was meant to be tongue and cheek but clearly that was not at all the impact. Hearing your thoughts here.

Oof, yeah. You definitely missed the mark.
Def not what I intended for what I thought was a quick throwaway Tweet days ago I thought no one saw. But 20K comments later, thousands more on several other Tweets, and dozens of hate/death threat emails/messages (antisemitic, racist, sexist, etc.) later, it’s been...not great.

Ugh. I am so sorry. People's urge to respond to things in the absolute worst ways is amplified tremendously on social media. And I'm sorry that I added to it, even if I did genuinely think you were serious. We've both learned a lesson I suppose.

Yeah it’s super cool to do “throwaway” tweets directed at a specific gender and race. I’m sure that kind of tweet would be well tolerated if it was directed at someone other than white men. So brave.
