I banned the term “slam poet” from a one-long high school creative writing class I taught a few summers ago. And I ban it from every bio and promo and it’s just like. Yes this thread and everyone on it and the work and the craft.

wild that this thread is over a year old and also everything still applies lol. i get “spoken word artist” sometimes too, sometimes while billed alongside someone else who is just called a “poet”
