Ya'll, something real exciting happened today.
has released one of its first open source projects, and it's something near and dear to my heart: Markdoc, our documentation tooling!! 🎉

I had almost nothing to do with this because it was well under way when I joined Stripe, so all credit goes to the wildly hardworking !

Prior to joining Stripe I was asked by a startup what the best-in-breed documentation tech stack was. At the time I didn't have an answer (though I do think what we implement over at is pretty good)
Now that Markdoc is live I feel like I finally have an answer!

P.S. - the team is pretty new to this Working In Public thing as a whole, so please be kind to them while they figure stuff out :D

Anyways. If you're a promising young project looking to set yourself up for documentation success (maybe my budz over at ?) Feel free to DM me. I'm off to KubeCon next week but I'm happy to drop some time on my calendar to intro you to the tool.

Markdoc is the result of a very dedicated team of people building the kind of features that documentation writers really need, like partials, advanced code sample display, fantastic diagramming tools and more.

We have tons more work to do -- at the moment, i.e, I'm not sure what markdoc has to offer in terms of built-in localization or versioning support -- but we'd love for you to help us scope this out! :D

Anyways. I'm super pleased that one of 's big open source pushes is docs-related.
I truly feel like good docs are crucial to open source in way that *very* few companies actually understand. Stripe, for the most part, gets how crucial docs can be.
Use our stuff!

Also, if you want to hear me talk about what kinds of challenges OSS projects face with their documentation, catch me at next week!
(p.s. yes I know my bio is out of date)

This talk is like, *aggressively* unwritten at this point in time lol. So if there's anything specific you'd like to ask me -- maybe about Markdoc, even? Or how to choose a good tech stack for your OSS docs?? Tweet at me!
