@turbeauxboy I think Docker is a first-gen run at the problem. We’ll see another. Worse is better, tho, so it might not beat Docker.
The container solves the problem of “isolate the consequences of installing & running this thing”, which is what an OS should do.

@ceejbot how is that different from sandboxing? -
@allartburns It’s virtualization at the app level, not at the kernel level. Good sandboxing would be nicer, less expensive.

@ceejbot One problem is that you need a huge API to cover everything and no one has ever successfully formally defined one that big.
