Of course, after a night's sleep, I realized that I left out the simplest and most important models: the commutative and associative properties. I've updated the article to include these.

Thank goodness for the experimental Linux subsystem, or most of that would have been impossible without a second computer!

Setting up printer with ChromeOS: (1) Download rpm intended for Linux (2) Use rpm2cpio and cpio to extract files (3) Dig around to locate the PPD file (4) Edit PPD file in a text editor to remove advanced features; (5) Point ChromeOS to PPD in "advanced" setup. Really?!?

I'm VERY late posting this. If you're a programmer (or learner) in New York, consider attending. But decide now, because RSVPs are needed by Friday morning!

This is going to be the highest Yahtzee score of my life. I've peaked. It's all downhill from here.

Nice quiz. I got "Competencies and Literacies" and "Technological, Social, and Scientific Innovation" as my reasons for caring about CS education. Yes, sounds about right!

"about 800 students in 11 schools are involved." "students learned [...] programming, logic and modeling, [...] variables, expressions and functions" "the course was categorized by most students as hard. However, [...] difficulty of the course did not demotivate the students"

I hate to be spammy, but my sister is in a very difficult situation with her dog who was seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident early this morning. I'll just quietly leave this here...

"We see that programming is as various and complex an activity as literacy. Just as one may use one's literacy to make laundry lists rather than analyze logical structures, one may achieve much more modest activities in programming than discovery of powerful ideas." - Roy Pea

Tomorrow evening, Fernando Alegre will be speaking to the New York Haskell User Group about "Deploying CodeWorld across high schools in Louisiana" I'm pretty excited to hear about his experiences. Why not come and learn more?

Reminder: If you're in New York this weekend and want to hang out and work on a project of your choice with other folk, come to the Haskell CoHack! All skill levels welcome. It's a nice space (thanks, Microsoft), free food and drinks. Come!

This is a really great response to the (incorrect) notion that abolishing the electoral college would concentrate power in only a handful of states.
