If they are not recommended, why do all health care workers wear them in situations like this even if they are healthy?

Are you unaware there can be people “asymptotic” walking around to spread the virus? These people won’t stay home as you suggested because they don’t even know they are sick! That’s why we need to wear masks to protect ourselves. Wake up CDC and keep your information up to date!
