Mark my words. This is going to happen to a Health Information Exchange and when it does it will be worse.

I'm 'that hacker patient' asking a lot of strange questions every time I'm at the hospital for my pacemaker check-ups 😂

Protecting hospitals, clinics and connected medical devices from cyberattacks is an important homeland security priority... but more importantly gives patients peace of mind. Look forward to working closely with you and your team.

This paper asks a simple question. If I have a heart attack when there’s a marathon in my city, what’s the impact? A 4 minute delay from rerouting causes a higher mortality rate. What do you think happens when ransomware shuts down hospitals for hours/days?

Ransomware attacks have continued pose a problem for the healthcare sector. This past weekend, emergency room patients were diverted away from East Ohio Regional Hospital and Ohio Valley Medical Center due to a ransomware attack. (via )

If you’re a journalist, work in infosec, or are even generally concerned about hackers and the damage they can do on an industrial level, I would highly recommend attending. It’ll scare the pants off you. Cc:

Honored to be quoted in this piece about teaching the next generation of doctors to recognize and treat medical security vulnerabilities as an issue of patient safety.
