Make sure your takeaways look credibly deliverable within basic parameters such as: time limit, hitting everything you promised to cover, audience proficiency wrt the subject. Typically ~1-3 takeaways. If there's a steep learning curve or little time, 1 can be highly appropriate.

Insight gleaned from
@simonstl in 2012, which I use all the time: Emotion can be a takeaway too. Some talks require heavy bandwidth from listeners. Some talks are light & foofy. Some soothe. Some rile us up. Which is yours? Align abstract phrasing w/ the mood you'll set in-room.Prikaži ovu nit

I always struggle with the idea of putting the takeaways in the abstract. The abstract normally becomes part of the schedule, and then the takeaways stated therein *are* spoilers. That's why I prefer to put them into the "notes to reviewers" field. Acceptable?

There's no such thing as a spoiler for 99% of talks (1%:
@nmeans). Tell ppl how they'll benefit from entrusting their precious time & attention to you instead of other sessions, hallway track, sightseeing, food, nap… Compete to be most blantantly valuable. Don't be mystery meat. - Još 1 odgovor
