There are definitely reasonable arguments, which is why First Things’s publication of baseless ad hominem attacks was regrettable.

Recognizing the good faith of people despite tactical disagreements is good. It’s important to distinguish between people dedicated to protecting the babies, Ponnuru, for example, and people who want abortion to be legal, and merely claim to be “incrementalist.”
