Thread: Yesterday I tweeted about a large number of accounts tweeting the same statement supporting Ted Cruz. Ted has a pinned tweet with a button that allows anyone to tweet the same statement. I immediately noticed many of the accounts supporting Ted Cruz were confirmed trollbots that are being tracked by http://BotSentinel.com . Hundreds of suspicious accounts were amplifying Ted Cruz's message, and at the time of this tweet, they are still active. 2/5pic.twitter.com/RsMH7ySZuF
I decided to analyze the accounts tweeting the statement to determine the percentage of trollbot vs non-trollbot accounts. I analyzed 2475 accounts that tweeted the statement within a 15 hour period. 858 accounts were trollbots, that is approximately 34%. 3/5
