  1. As someone who, confoundingly, hides things in places I'm likely to forget, this Halifax story speaks to me. I hope the person who finds the valuables does the right thing. In the meantime, we'll hear from the couple tonight on The Moment.

I remember watching April Wine sing their debut hit Could Have Been a Lady on tv when I was 11. Other than BTO, no Canadian band was bigger in the 70's. And so,I'm thrilled we'll hear from Myles Goodwin (and his guitar) tonight on the National.

Depending on your age and pop culture tastes, this is a day to reflect on passing of Bob Einstein (Super Dave), "Mean" Gene Okerland (wrestling interviewer) and Daryl Dragon (The Captain). Favourite Captain and Tennille song?

Happy "Wrestling Day" to Williams Lake BC. Sure, the logic may be questionable (if the day after Christmas is Boxing Day, then the day after New Year's....) but I think it's still a day off for some people. And as quirky Canadiana goes, hard to beat.

I was wondering what would lead The National to begin 2019. Fittingly, it will be a story that celebrates human achievement, international cooperation and scientific excellence. Then again, still an hour to our first edition. A lot can change.

Most importantly, the story of Canadian Pacific Flight 21 needed to told and the stories and information gathered and preserved. But it was a mass murder. And I still hope someone comes forward with the evidence that has eluded investigators for 53 yrs.

Congrats co-anchor! It was a privilege to work alongside you on Canada Now and CBC Vancouver. You’re as impressive off the air as you are on. A well deserved honour.

We’re bringing you The National from Vancouver tonight and, as you can see, the weight of that responsibility is making us very tense.

This is a nice glimpse of Canadian Christmas nostalgia. In the early 70’s, every year a different one of my group of friends got the newest (Colleco?) version. Mine had a automatic goal light. Hoping your gifts today will be as warmly remembered.

This is both the busiest shopping day and shortest day of the year. From the National Research Council: ome sunset times today (south of 60 degrees lattitude): Vancouver and Edmonton: 4.16 pm. Quebec City: 3.59. Prince George: 3.51! Don't worry. Summer is just 183 days away.

Has a drone ever led to a shutdown at a Canadian airport? Navcan can't recall a case. But if a drone did get too close, there is a made-in-Canada jamming gun that should be able to take over control. An expert on the tech and it's use is on The National tonight.

After so many warnings about drones too close to airports we now have reports of a major disruption. Watching tonight to see if authorities can track down the culprits at Gatwick and when the flight disruptions end.

Maybe we need to create a list of very popular, polarizing things. Tim Hortons (obviously), Nickleback, Love Actually, provocative commentaries by magazines....

From a story telling perspective, it's been interesting to see how our National piece complements the podcast and I co-hosted. Looking forward to hearing your theory on what happened on board CP 21.
