(What, you expected someone who's all like "nature is messy! consider context carefully!" would have a succinct take home point?)

As you're reading about Greenwood/Tulsa, know that the mass destruction, theft, death of Black communities is not an anomaly, it happened often during the progressive era. As free Black ppl built, white ppl - sometimes the state itself - took. This is a great thread to start.

I think I'm just extremely done with villain origin stories because how in 2021 does anyone think that bad people are complex? A lot of folks have tragic backstories and don't end up being evil, and a lot of evil people have every advantage and still end up boring.

Arugula kidding me? Arugula flowers, Eruca versicaria cv., Culinary arugula, taste peppery just like the leaves. These first weeks of June are action-packed in the Herb Garden: heirloom roses, lavender flowers, flowering herbs galore, and arugula! See you soon!

Every jurisdiction who has followed the precautionary principle has enjoyed shorter lockdowns, lower case numbers and deaths per capita and greater economic benefits. Why do we keep trying to negotiate with this virus? We lose every time.

A failed coup is a dress rehearsal. A political party that stages a coup and blocks investigation ultimately wants that coup to succeed. A political party that did not stage a coup but does not assertively, quickly investigate and prosecute it *also* wants that coup to succeed.

Not sure if anyone needs to hear this, but ... scale_y_log10() will do the transformation first and then calculate the geoms. coord_trans() will do the opposite: calculate the geoms first, and the transform the axis.

10yo graduated from elementary school today. Got a commemorative t-shirt.

A close up of a bright yellow t-shirt with a black silkscreened print of a child's drawing of a zoom window surrounded by face masks and coronavirus. One of the panels has a smiling stick figure and a speech bubble that says "everybody pay attention!" The remaining 19 panels display child stick figures in various states of disarray, including three blank rectangles.

Completely breathtaking. The sadly deluded anti-vaxers are on the precipice of dismantling a century of public health advances in Ohio. And because we have a grossly gerrymandered legislature, we are at the mercy of Republican politics.

We’ve lost so many people. Something about these “back to work” and “back to normal” discussions feel so heartless. Living beings shouldn’t be this casual about what we all endured these last year and some change. Even if you lost no one (rare), the world is so different.
