  1. Seeing as a continuum, from machines repeating human tasks (assisted) to enabling humans to undertake tasks (augmented) to independently achieving tasks (autonomous). From control to collaboration. Roles & expectations are defined but both may shift.

Treating my EMEIA team to fun & frolics in Scotland this weekend. These wonderful humans (& naturally a gizmo or two) make our noteworthy achievements to date possible. A good leader, as they say, is nothing without her team & I'm eternally grateful for mine 🙂

Using like 's to cure loneliness. Would people really be comforted by them? I can't help but think human interventions for loneliness, befriending schemes for one, are better. Maybe not feasible for all though. Thoughts?

Not all is predictive but it can: help us map the future by underlining current concerns; broaden the mind when it comes to thinking about how the future may look, informing decision-making; & inspire ideas that lead to technological innovation.

The death toll is rising. AI like that developed by Bluedot can help in future, using big data analytics, natural language processing & machine learning to predict dangerous infectious diseases & to issue warnings before they can travel.

Using human-assisted to check users' profile pics are real. Brill idea & just one of many new safety features for the app. Great to see man and machine team up to zap , disturbing conduct that inexplicably appears to be rife today.

Using to identify people by their dance moves. The researchers argue they're largely only concerned with what their results say about human musicality, but there's no chance this method won't at least be trialled in surveillance soon.

This uses lasers to see things out of direct line of sight & in hi-res too. While there are obvious privacy concerns, the ability to "see around corners" like this will have useful applications in many areas, medicine and defence just two of them.

Linguists should be involved in the design of . They can craft engaging conversational experiences that avoid the tedium of structure and capture real emotion. This is how to retain users. And banter, we need to see more of that in scenarios too.

...exciting or scary? The self-repairing, biodegradable xenobots could be useful in medical/environmental settings, but we can't be sure how they'll behave & in the wrong hands, this tech could be misused for nefarious purposes.
