Homeless shelter emergency and City of Toronto has NO spokesperson for media. This interview with will surprise you with the numbers they are seeing and fragmentation of emergency shelter services.

Patchwork meaning now nine 24 hr respite sites, two 24 hr drop-ins for women, and the volunteer-run faith based Out of the Cold program. The latter being winter only. None are real shelters but are the new norm.

I was focusing on most of the afternoon but hit a high of 940 and 945 people in the not real shelter patchwork on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. My advice: we WILL need all 4 Sprung structures (domes)

Why no recent stories on city council, mayor inaction? “Indigenous population over-represented among Winnipeg's homeless: street census”

    Replying to and

.... with few 24-hour coffee shops open in Winnipeg, people take refuge in gas station bathrooms, 7-11 bathrooms, warming up their frozen limbs with running water. A person was just taken by ambulance from 7-11 on Pembina + Byng with a frozen leg, warming up in the bathroom

starts in with 900 people forced to sleep in places that are not real shelters: overnight drop-ins, domes, building at the CNE, and Out of the Cold etc.

There was a time in this nation’s history when slaveholding politicians blamed abolitionists for the deaths of all those illegals resisting slavery. Abolitionist policies were allowing slaves to think they can break the law, slaveholders said. History is rarely history.
