Some, like "debugging", are cognitive algorithms - a series of steps and that can be learned by watching others and asking about their process. Others, like "persistence in the face of failure", are learned through repeated success in a psychologically safe environment. 2/3

I'm not saying human skill acquisition is all nurture and no nature. I'm saying that folks are too quick to ascribe differing skillsets to unteachable fundamentals, rather than past patterns of practice, mentorship, and psych safety. Which can be added to... starting today! 3/3
