Would love to connect with anyone else out there who (1) did/does research involving participant observation and (2) is admitted/applying for bar admission… 👀

No disrespect to the wonderful Joan Didion but gosh she’s blowing up my IG stories in a way that bell hooks (and Toni Morrison, if memory serves?) definitely did not 🧐

Well-revised research proposals are the gift that keeps on giving! Reduce repetitive work: reuse and recycle old, good language.

“The notion of justice can be analyzed in many ways, but one good place to start is with Aristotle.” There is frankly too much shared DNA between law review articles and middle school essays.

Am I the only one who digs up old papers and finds I’m telling the same story again and again? On bad days this means I’m a one trick pony; on good days it means everything is aligned and I’m a content little bird singing the song the universe wants me to sing.

Congrats to the Brooklyn !!! Who I assume are also enjoying their short-term foray into LA—refusing to get a driver’s license, walking and taking Metro everywhere, swooning at the rare sight of pre-war architecture, befuddled over coverage of LA’s “bagel scene”

Ran my academic year goals past a mentor and asked, what’s missing? They told me to add work/life balance and downtime to the list. 🤯 One of very few occasions on which chilling tfo has been presented to me as a noble career aspiration. Please, do this for your mentees!

Stuck on ’s observation at workshop: law & society research gets close to the human pain, suffering, and injustice in which law traffics, yet allows scholars to keep some distance from it all… I’ll be pondering for a while the duty that confers on scholars.

Had just finished sending peer feedback to other PhD students applying for fellowships when… I received my FIRST EVER SET OF REVIEWER COMMENTS on my first proper academic article!!!! Nervous to read them but feel very warm and fuzzy about the collaborative side of academia. 🤝

Such a powerful and accurate observation that doesn't get enough attention. Highly recommend this workshop to anyone —seems like a much needed counter stretch to the ways law school generally trains you to think, learn, and relate to others.

Workshop's premise: "Law school is a space dominated by toxic cultures of white supremacy and capitalism that prioritize cerebral, rather than emotional and embodied knowledge, and encourage transactional interactions rather than relationships rooted in reciprocity and trust." 💯

Huge admiration for , which will host an event next week aimed to "build towards a community that is guided by trust, vulnerability, and a commitment to interdependency." The part of me that died in law school is rolling in her grave with envy for students.

So great to see some clear-eyed resistance to Title 42, which has seemingly flown under the radar of people’s outrage for too long.
